Biography


Waheb Abdullah is a motivated engineer with excellent educational credentials and hands-on experience in Electrical, Electronics and Systems Engineering with over 20 years' expertise in academia and industry. He received the B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Basrah, Iraq, in 2001, the Master of Engineering (with distinction) in Communication & Computer Engineering and the Ph.D. in Electrical, Electronic, and Systems Engineering from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Malaysia, in 2011 and 2015 respectively. Dr. Waheb is currently an Associate Professor of Electrical/Electronic Engineering at the School of Engineering and the Built Environment, Faculty of Computing, Engineering and the Built Environment, Birmingham City University, United Kingdom. His research interests include the Internet of Things, Wireless Networks, Mobile Communications, and Smart Sensors and Control. He also has a keen interest in Low Power Wide Area Networks such as LoRa Networks. Previously, Waheb served for six years in different academic, research and administrative positions at Universiti Malaysia Pahang, Malaysia that including Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Electrical & Electronic Engineering Technology, Research Fellow at the Centre for Software Development & Integrated Computing, the Head of Advanced Electronics & Automation Research Sector, Coordinator of Senior Design Projects for undergraduate students, and the Chair of Subject Matter Expert Committees (SME Control & Instrumentation and SME Final Year Projects). He also served as a Leader/Member of several research projects in the field of IoT and Wireless Networks and he is the author of many articles/papers that were published in prestigious journals or presented at international conferences. Dr. Waheb has registered four IPs and supervised and co-supervised three PhD, five Masters by research students and more than 40 undergraduate project dissertations. He has also been nominated as an internal examiner for Masters and PhD candidates. He has been awarded many Gold/Silver/Bronze medals in addition to excellent service awards for teaching and research during his career. Wahab's industrial experience in Electrical/Electronics Engineering is supported by his six years as an Electrical Supervisor and Commissioning Engineer with Public Electricity Corporation, Sana’a South Power Plant, Yemen prior to awarding Fellowship for pursuing his postgraduate studies. He is registered as a Chartered Engineer with the Engineering Council and IET, UK and a Professional Technologist with Malaysia Board of Technologists and a Senior Member with IEEE, USA. He is a certified Peer Reviewer from the Publons Academy and serves as a Reviewer of 90 prestigious journals indexed by WoS/Scopus from various publishers (IEEE, Elsevier, Springer, Wiley, ACM, Taylor & Francis, MDPI, Hindawi, Emerald).
